Katsuichi started as a family business, well known for their sword mastery and superb craftsmanship.

However, with the fierce rivalry from other companies such as Castorian, their success quickly faded. In the end, they had no choice but to accept Chikara's offer to buy their company and designs, but let the family remain as paid advisers. Sadly, it would be many years before Chikara decided to restart the company and once again start producing swords for the Calypso population.

Known as the Katsuichi Retro series, these new longblades utilize a mix of old craftsmanship and new technology. The base of the sword is designed by surviving members from the Katsuichi family, and the finished swords are tested by master swordsmen of the family to make sure the balance is perfect.

While the old swords would quickly blunt and require a visit to the nearest repair terminal, the Retro series uses nanotechnology that continuously sharpens the blade to make sure it can be used for a long time before breaking. Sadly the nanotech also decays the blade itself, causing miniature cracks in the metal that makes it impossible to repair properly.
